Your jobs
Applying for a new role is an important step in your career. This is your chance to really show us what you’re like and how your talents can make a difference at Barclays. So, we’re supporting you by making our application and assessment processes simple to follow. Here, you can read all about what to expect, we’re looking forward to meeting you.
We aim for an inclusive work environment where everyone can reach their full potential. If you require any adjustments to our recruitment process, please let us know as part of your application.
We’ve created this process to make it simple to apply for your internship or graduate programme at Barclays. We know your time is important and we’ve designed the application so you can tell us everything we need to know about you and how you align with our Values and ways of working.
Our assessment process is designed to spot the key qualities that will help us find the best role for you. We’ll be looking to see if you share the same key attributes and Values as Barclays colleagues throughout our business. These qualities will help you perform well here, with our training and support to help you build on them and develop the technical skills you’ll need in your role.
Where possible, we host most of our assessments on a digital experience platform. You’ll find information on here about our Purpose, Values and ways of working – the things that make us tick at Barclays. You’ll also find useful hints and tips, as well as some practice tests that will help you perform well through your assessment.
If you want to hear more about the adjustments we can provide during the application process, please visit our adjustments to the recruitment process page.

It all starts with three short interactive assessments, which will tell us how you might perform in the workplace, and your typical or preferred ways of working. You can do this on any type of device, such as your mobile phones or tablet.
For more technical programmes such as the Expert Aspiring Developer programme and the Expert Data and Analytics programme, we’ll invite you to complete an assessment to show us your technical skills. Depending on the skills required for the role, this may be a numerical assessment or, in the case of the Explorer Developer programme, a more advanced coding assessment, which must be entirely your own work.
For programmes that do not require technical skills, we may invite you to complete a video interview consisting of between three and five questions. We’ll give you time to prepare before you share your answers.
If you’ve been successful so far, we’ll invite you to attend an assessment centre either in person or virtually. This is where you’ll have a further opportunity to show us the relevant strengths, behaviours or technical skills required for the role. The Assessment Centre will involve two or three stages, including a motivational interview with a member of the leadership team. Our assessors will do their best to put you at ease and answer any questions you may have.
