Barclays is seeking an experienced Derivative Confirmations Manager (Operations) at Assistant Vice President level to lead the Confirmations service within Back Office Operations. This is an opportunity to shape a specialist function responsible for drafting and executing complex structured trade confirmations across Rates, FX and Equities within Macro and Structured Flow. You will combine deep cross-product expertise with a strong control mindset, driving automation to reduce manual touchpoints, strengthen operational resilience and deliver a more efficient confirmations service.

To be successful as a Derivative Confirmations Manager (Operations) – Assistant Vice President, you should have:

  • Extensive experience drafting, negotiating and executing derivative confirmations across asset classes, ideally including Rates, FX and Equities within Macro or Structured Flow.
  • Prior managerial or leadership experience, ideally within a small-team environment, with the ability to set priorities, develop colleagues and oversee complex confirmation workflows.
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory frameworks, confirmation controls and documentation standards, with a proven ability to identify, escalate and mitigate operational risk.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines, alongside a transformational mindset and experience improving processes through automation, exception-based management and reduced manual intervention.

This role will be located at our Glasgow office, with a hybrid working model of working a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.


This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

This role is regulated by FCA.

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

  • Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
  • Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
  • Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
  • Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
  • Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Assistant Vice President Expectations

  • To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
