Understanding Client data in the complex eco system of transaction banking is difficult, but high impact. This will remove operational impact to clients and also enable a richer client experience when interfacing with Barclays services. This will enable the Corporate Banking and Transaction Banking strategy to grow selectively in certain regions, as we build a clear understanding of how client entities are related globally. 

What will the role do?

Partner with other business units to create a clean and reliable master data service for key Corporate Client data attributes.  Deliver operationally excellent data services that can be rolled out for digital applications which are client facing in a phased manner.  Partner with Chief Data Office to measure and manage the quality of key client data attributes Partner with the Chief Operating Office to stand up an Operations Capability for managing Client Data Partner with the Data Modernisation team to delivery high quality Client Data Products that will enable broader Analytics and AI use cases

Key Knowledge & Experience 

  • Client Reference / Master Data Management experience in a complex financial services landscape
  • Master Data Quality and Remediation experience 
  • Experience driving firmwide change using Scaled Agile
  • Experience providing Operational Data Services to Digital / Client facing channels
  • Evidence leveraging AI for Enterprise use cases
  • Awareness of Data Products and Data Market place 

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.

Director Expectations

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
