This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a APAC Prime Synthetics Middle Office Analyst. You will be responsible to provide dedicated support for Synthetics trading desk within Equity Financing Group. This includes taking ownership of day-to-day functions and ensuring operational control requirements are met. In addition to the day to day functions, the Synthetics Middle Office team play an integral role in the rapidly growing equities business at Barclays and are key stakeholders in multiple projects and new business ventures.

Other key focus of the role will include:

  • Monitor all control reports, exceptions, and queries are resolved in a timely manner
  • Work with Trading, Trader Assistant, Product Control and Market Risk on resolving any queries from internal or external sources
  • Engage with Project and IT teams on all projects and UAT sessions
  • Actively question and challenge existing practices / procedures and make improvement suggestions
  • Engage with Regulatory Control and be aware of all regulatory requirements
  • Engage with Internal Audit and Risk & Control on all control processes to ensure they remain relevant and efficient

To be successful for the role, candidates should possess the following skills or experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or equivalent and preferably 1 to 3 years relevant experience in trade support or middle office function
  • Excellent communication skills, experience dealing with traders and management preferred.  Proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua is a plus as you will be dealing with Asian markets clients
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Asia equities markets, ETF, and equity derivative products including equity swap

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

  • Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
  • Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
  • Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
  • Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
  • Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
  • Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
