Explore locationAs a Credit Lawyer AVP at Barclays, you will work in the EMEA credit legal team primarily supporting the loan trading business and the illiquid credit business. Your role will involve day-to-day coverage of the Credit Trading and Credit Structuring businesses of the Markets division of Barclays Investment Bank in UK and Europe, which includes trading of bonds and other fixed income instruments, loans, special situations, claims, credit derivatives, illiquid credit, structured credit and the provision of financing. You will be fully involved throughout the full client and transaction lifecycle, supporting on all aspects from terms of business, NDAs, master agreements, transaction confirmations, amendments and lifecycle events, through to restructures and terminations.
To be successful as a Credit Lawyer AVP, you should;
Be a qualified lawyer
Have prior experience in financial services activities in-house and/or private practice, particularly in trading and finance
Have excellent drafting and negotiation skills
Have the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory issues across a broad range of products in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
Some other highly valued skills may include;
Experience with credit trading involving the loan secondary market
Experience with restructuring & insolvency situations
General experience supporting an investment bank trading business (i.e. wholesale market trading in securities, derivatives and loans)
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
This role is based in London.
Purpose of the role
To ensure that the activities of the business units in the Markets division are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal risk associated with these activities.
