As a Reputation Risk Vice President, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding Barclays’ reputation by anticipating and addressing external developments that could impact the bank. Working closely with the Managing Director, Reputational Risk, and partnering across businesses and functions, the role involves leading horizon scanning efforts to identify emerging risks stemming from geopolitical shifts, societal trends, and macroeconomic dynamics.

You will monitor global political, security, and economic developments, translating complex external issues into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership, including the Group Executive Committee and Board. You will produce forward-looking scenarios, develop high-quality written materials, and establish early warning indicators to enable timely escalation and informed decision-making. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will ensure a consistent view of risks across the organization and maintain good engagement with senior stakeholders to support proactive reputation risk management.

To be successful as a Reputation Risk Vice President, you should have the following experience:

  • Extensive experience in reputational risk, geopolitical analysis, intelligence, or strategic advisory roles within financial services, consulting, government, or international institutions
  • Deep knowledge of global geopolitics with proven ability to apply analytical insights to commercial, regulatory, or strategic contexts
  • Demonstrated capability to distil complex, high-volume information into clear, senior-level briefings and actionable insights
  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior executives and external networks across multiple regions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

This role is located within either our London or Glasgow office.

Purpose of the role

To provide support to the Chief Risk Officer(S) in the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the bank's risk management framework across various business units and functions.

Accountabilities

  • Implementation support of risk management policies, standards, procedures, and controls across the bank.
  • Asessment and promotion of risk management awareness and risk controls and culture.
  • Review, challenge and monitoring of the effectiveness of existing risk management practices and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Identification of new and emerging risks, and assessing the likelihood and impact of identified risks, and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Management and operation of associated committees, forum and meetings.
  • Maintenance of risk inventories and governance documentation.
