Explore locationEuropean Corporate Secretariat (“ECS”) provides support and company secretarial services to Barclays Bank Ireland PLC (“Barclays Europe”) and its Board and Board Committees. The team sits within the wider Barclay Corporate Secretariat (“BCS”) function in London which provides the same services to Barclays PLC and other Group subsidiary companies, with smaller regional teams also in America and Asia.
You will be an experienced Company Secretarial professional with deep corporate governance knowledge, helping to ensure the effective operation of the Board and the Board Committees, in accordance with law, regulation and best practice. A high level of attention to detail is required and the ability to manage a number of key tasks is critical.
To be successful as a Senior Company Secretary, you should have the following skills:
· Qualified Solicitor or Lawyer, or a qualified Company Secretary.
· Experience working in a regulated bank, with potential experience in insurance.
· PLC experience is advantageous but not essential.
· Proven ability to lead junior team members.
· Ability to deputise for senior management when required.
· Versatile and adaptable, able to handle various tasks and responsibilities.
· Senior stakeholder management skills, including dealing with ExCo or board members.
· Confident and influential communicator, able to engage with high-profile clients.

Senior Company Secretary
This role can be located from London, Dublin or Glasgow.
Purpose of the role
To play a crucial role in ensuring the Barclays Group’s adherence to statutory and regulatory corporate governance requirements and industry standards, facilitating communication between the board of directors and other key stakeholders for regulated and/or significant Barclays Group legal entities.
