Overall purpose of role
The role is within the Market Risk Management team located in Mumbai and directly supports Market Risk Management team. As a Barclays Market Risk Manager, you will be a part trading desks of an asset class. You will provide additional and independent information to the business to enhance decision making, whilst providing a control environment which satisfies the objectives set by the regulators. Key responsibilities include data validation and management for VAR sign offs, Stress, RNIC and IRC computation, working with model challenges and analyzing and monitoring cross gamma market risk exposure across desks and businesses.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensuring full risk capture and completeness, both on a procedural (book and mapping) basis, as well as a risk factor (e.g. crosses, higher orders) basis
- Proactive tracking and fixing of data issues which feed into the risk systems including managing One Risk transition.
- Ensuring accurate and timely data for daily signoff of risk, stress, and VAR/SVAR figures, for accurate market risk capture and risk reporting
- Providing accurate and timely production of Primary and Secondary Stress outputs, as well as the investigation of changes in the market risk that feed into the process.
- Daily monitoring of exposures, and utilization against limits, as well as additional ad-hoc analysis, e.g. P&L arising from market moves, escalation of overages as appropriate
- Reviewing VAR and non-VAR limits, as well as scenarios shocks, on a periodic basis
- Supporting the senior risk managers identifying and aggregating the headline risks across the businesses; writing weekly commentary of associated risks in the context of Credit events
- Processing and production of the monthly Risk Not in VAR capitalization figures for the Credit businesses
- Handling enquiries and ad hoc requests from regulators or senior management
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of derivative markets, products and pricing and process flows for data management.
- Bachelor’/ master’s degree with educational background in a quantitative discipline, e.g. Risk, Finance, Business (or CFA/FRM)
- Analytical and IT skills are required (Excel/VBA) to build tools that will help in carrying out the responsibilities in this role.
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with confidence to follow up with multiple upstream and downstream teams.
- Technology proficiency in any of these languages: Python, SQL, VBA, C, C++, Java
- Strong organizational and detailed documentation skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Prior experience in market risk reporting or management of any asset class would be preferred.
Purpose of the role
To set the risk appetite setting for the Trading portfolio and active calibration & monitoring of limits
Accountabilities
- Collection and analysis of market data from various sources and ensuring risk is correctly captured, modelled and capitalised.
- Escalation of critical risk issues or breaches to Traders and senior Risk Management Leadership teams for timely action, as may be required.
- Review and provision of feedback on market risk models including change governance.
- Internal, Regulatory and Scenario stress testing for the Trading portfolio, as required.
- Steer and execution projects of market risk wide-significance e.g. FRTB, One Risk, as required.
