Overall purpose of role

The role is within the Market Risk Management team located in Mumbai and directly supports the US Equity Market Risk Management and Portfolio Management. Key responsibilities include reviewing, monitoring and analyzing key risks and exposures across businesses, validating VAR, produce key reports, and focus on CCAR stress testing.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor and analyze risk at various levels (e.g. desk level vs. asset class level across regions) within context of what’s going on in the market, and present findings to senior risk management.
  • Validate and sign off on VAR, stress testing, and RNiVs: assure it is appropriate, accurate, timely reported, and further developed in line with new regulations and internal guidelines.
  • Partner with Risk colleagues to risk manage; comfortable challenging stakeholders and/or escalating findings (e.g. unexpected and/or large shifts in risk profile) as necessary to ensure appropriate risk taking in a controlled environment against Risk Appetite / Limit Framework.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across departments (e.g. Trading, IT, Finance, etc.) to ensure that risks area properly captured and problem solve
  • Leverages knowledge of the equity markets and equity products, particularly vanilla options and volatility index products, and takes initiative to drill into and investigate risk.
  • Drive infrastructure upgrades/development and regulatory deliverables – ensuring we improve infrastructure and have an understanding of the changes and are able to explain these.
  • Address ad-hoc enquiries from regulators and/or senior risk management.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related quantitative field
  • Prior exposure in Market risk Management and understanding of Back-testing models, P/L of exotic interest rate and equity products
  • Experience performing mathematical modelling and risk analysis by leveraging Excel VBAs and Python; in-depth knowledge of equities markets, derivative products (e.g. vanilla options and volatility index products) and pricing/risking models a plus.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • CFA, FRM, MBA or equivalent.
  • SQL, Python, Lavastorm, MS Excel and PowerPoint

Purpose of the role

To set the risk appetite setting for the Trading portfolio and active calibration & monitoring of limits

Accountabilities

  • Collection and analysis of market data from various sources and ensuring risk is correctly captured, modelled and capitalised.
  • Escalation of critical risk issues or breaches to Traders and senior Risk Management Leadership teams for timely action, as may be required.
  • Review and provision of feedback on market risk models including change governance.
  • Internal, Regulatory and Scenario stress testing for the Trading portfolio, as required.
  • Steer and execution projects of market risk wide-significance e.g. FRTB, One Risk, as required.
