What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Director, Barclays Internal Audit in New York, NY (multiple positions available):

1.    Develop, drive, and lead delivery of an audit plan ensuring it is completed according to Barclays Internal Audit (“BIA”) established methodology and achieves quality standards.
2.    Contribute to the delivery of the BIA team Audit Plan and provide assurance on the Control Environment to key stakeholders.
3.    Provide in-region senior leadership and support to U.S. Risk Finance and Treasury “RFT” stakeholders and the U.S. RFT audit teams.
4.    Have direct oversight and accountability over the Capital and Treasury U.S. portfolio.
5.    Lead BIA’s relationship with the Americas Chief Risk Officer and the Americas Chief Finance Officer.
6.    Act as Audit Owner leading the delivery of select higher risk audits in the portfolio.
7.    Proactively support the definition of risk profiles, work effectively with colleagues across BIA to ensure the audit plan maximizes resources.
8.    Attend committees and forums within the Americas RFT space.
9.    Produce concise and insightful commentary and information for BIA wide reporting.
10.    Lead discussions with business management regarding audit observations and issues, consulting with relevant BIA Managing Directors and Directors where applicable.
11.    Assign audit and line management responsibilities, direction, and guidance to direct reports while maintaining in-depth knowledge of activities in each area.
12.    Manages team of up to 15 direct reports within internal audit to support the overall delivery of audit plan and strategic priorities and consists of 2 VP Audit Owners, 3 VPs, 4 APVs and 2 Analysts; provides strategic guidance, assign tasks, set priorities, ensure effective collaboration; provides mentorship and professional development directions; regularly assess team performance, address any issues, and recognize achievements; identifies skills gaps and develops training plans to ensure team stays updated on industry trends and best practices.
13.    May telecommute but must be in the office at least 2 days a week per company’s requirements.

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $310K per year

Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $341K per year

Purpose of the role

To develop and implement the bank's capital management strategy and policies, monitoring and analysing the bank's capital adequacy against regulatory requirements, internal risk appetite, and strategic objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Analysis of regulatory capital ratios to comply with relevant banking regulations.
  • Development and implementation of the bank's capital management strategy, including setting risk appetite and capital allocation frameworks.
  • Analysis of the efficiency and effectiveness of existing capital management practices.
  • Identification and assessment of potential capital risks arising from various sources, such as credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk.
  • Development and conducting of stress tests to assess the impact of various economic and market scenarios on the bank's capital adequacy.

Director Expectations

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
