The Barclays Group Insurance team is seeking a highly driven, forward-thinking early-career risk professional to support senior insurance risk managers with renewals, exposure and claims analysis, broker and insurer coordination, project planning, presentation development, key programs, including owner-controlled insurance program administration and help creating opportunities to automate processes with the use of technology.

To be successful as an Insurance Risk Manager - AVP, you should have:

  • Foundational knowledge of commercial insurance or risk management gained through relevant coursework, a graduate program, or early-career experience in insurance, brokerage, claims, or underwriting

  • Interest in supporting insurance programs, renewals, project activities, and relationships with brokers, insurers, and other service providers

  • Understanding of commercial insurance lines such as Property, Construction, Casualty, or Management Liability, with an eagerness to develop deeper technical knowledge

  • Ability to take ownership of assigned responsibilities, ask thoughtful questions, apply feedback, and complete work effectively with appropriate guidance

  • Well-developed organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • ARM and/or CPCU would be a plus

  • Interest in learning insurance systems, data analysis, workflow automation, and responsible use of AI tools

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners

  • Curiosity, sound judgment, a practical approach to problem-solving, and a willingness to learn

  • Adaptability and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while seeking guidance when needed

This role is located in New York, NY.

Minimum Salary: $100,000

Maximum Salary: $160,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

  • Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
  • Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
  • Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.
