Join us as a Stability and Resiliency Lead at Barclays, where you will play a critical role in strengthening the resilience, stability and operational excellence of our Payments Technology estate. You will lead governance and oversight across production stability, change quality, service risk management and resilience initiatives, ensuring robust controls and continuous improvement. Working closely with Technology, Product, Operations and Risk & Control teams, you will drive strategic initiatives that enhance service reliability and operational resilience.

To be successful as a Stability and Resiliency Lead, you should have experience with:

  • Payments Technology platforms, end to end transaction processing and critical service operations.
  • Production Stability governance, including Incident, Problem Record and Service Risk Assessment management.
  • Change governance and quality assurance, including change reviews, implementation oversight and risk-based decision making.
  • Resilience engineering, operational resilience frameworks and implementation of Chaos Engineering practices.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience leading cross-functional stability improvement programmes across Technology, Operations and Product teams.
  • Experience delivering large-scale remediation and continuous improvement initiatives such as service risk assessments & resilience enhancements.
  • Strong knowledge of risk & controls governance, Incident/Problem/Change controls, capacity management and service performance oversight within complex payments environments.
  • Data-driven governance, KPI/KRI development, executive reporting and facilitation of senior management forums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Change Review Governance to ensure production changes are delivered safely, with appropriate challenge, risk assessment and control oversight.
  • Drive production stability reviews covering incidents, problem records, recurring issues and systemic risk reduction activities.
  • Own stability and change quality metrics, providing executive reporting, trend analysis and governance through senior leadership forums.
  • Lead and coordinate the execution of LightSpeed, driving delivery of strategic stability improvement actions working with teams across Change-the-Bank and Run-the-Bank.
  • Facilitate the Payments Capacity Forum, partnering with Technology, Product, Operations and Architecture teams to proactively manage capacity and performance risks.
  • Drive implementation and adoption of Chaos Engineering practices across the Payments estate to improve resilience and recovery capabilities.
  • Oversee Service Risk Assessments and ensure risk mitigation actions are identified, tracked and delivered.
  • Lead reviews of Incident/ Problem/ Change controls and broader resilience controls, ensuring adherence to internal policies, regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to identify emerging risks, prioritise remediation activities and continuously improve the stability and resilience posture of the Payments estate.

Purpose of the role

To manage the efficient delivery of large-scale technical projects and capabilities across the bank and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations throughout the software product lifecycle, adhering to agreed time, budget and quality requirements. 

Accountabilities

  • Management of the delivery, resource allocation and improvement of complex technical project capabilities across the bank using Agile/Scrum methodologies for planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives and the execution of sprints.
  • Collaboration with customers and business teams to manage and implement customer trails to support the proposal of technically feasible solutions, and effort and timeline expectations.
  • Collaboration with software engineers, quality teams, product managers and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle aligned to the banks objectives, regulation and security policies.
  • Identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks associated with technical projects to prepare the bank for potential challenges.
  • Management of change requests and communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Management of vendor relations involved in technical projects to ensure they deliver according to agreed terms.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry technology trends and technologies, to evaluate and adopt new approaches to improving deliver outcomes and to foster a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence and growth.
