Hear from Dil about his graduate journey in Debt Capital Markets

On any given day in Debt Capital Markets (DCM), you’ll find me sending market updates, meeting with the team, taking part in client calls, researching companies, and doing complex analysis. It’s the teamwork and collaboration that’s most enjoyable, as is the intellectual challenge of overcoming client issues. We think on our feet, come up with innovative ideas, and then present back our solutions to them – which all brings a huge sense of accomplishment.

The supportive and welcoming atmosphere here is second to none.

One of my most interesting and memorable projects was when I worked on a deal with a large German pharmaceutical company, and I got to lead on the bond repurchase angle. The deal was successful, and it meant a lot to have that level of responsibility early on in my career. Some of the concepts can be hard to grasp at first, but you’re given the time and training to understand everything – the supportive and welcoming atmosphere here is second to none.

What makes me proud to work at Barclays? It’s the fact that I’m surrounded by inspirational people, and have many great mentors. I value the challenge of what I do every day, because it makes me better at my role and grows my skills as a professional. It’s one of the reasons I chose Barclays in the first place: I knew I’d be able to develop here.
