Our Financial Risk and Planning Modelling team is an integral part of Barclays’ Quantitative Analytics team – responsible for providing model development, analytics and expert advice across many business areas at Barclays.
You’ll help deliver solutions to develop, test, implement, and support all statistical models for the estimation of default probabilities, recovery rates and exposures at default, forecasting models for net revenue and balance sheet projections, scenario generation, operational risk, climate change, economic capital models and machine learning models for fraud detection, all while using the latest model development approaches and advancements in technology.
Following initial training, you’ll join our specialist team, helping deliver intricate solutions across a wide range of projects. Your work will be highly technical, and could see you tackling challenges such as applying quantitative techniques to solve real world business problems, researching, developing and implementing new models and solutions, and improving our computing or data infrastructure.
You’ll be surprised by what you can achieve. From beginning to end, we’ll do everything in our power to make sure you get the very most from your internship. We’ll surround you with challenging projects and opportunities to grow and learn. We’ll keep you motivated with encouragement, feedback and support as you build your leadership skills, technical know-how and business acumen. We’ll help you connect with mentors, and network with colleagues and senior leaders alike. You’ll get the chance to give back to the community through volunteer events. Solid performance during your internship will provide you with the skills and expertise to begin an incredible career.
You will have completed or be in your final year of a postgraduate qualification, of a Masters or higher, in a technical discipline such as Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or other STEM subject. Logical thinking, problem solving, mathematical and programming skills (in Python) are all essential. You’ll be great at communicating and collaborating – motivated by pace and pressure and driven to achieve and search for the best solution. You’ll also be ready to develop a deep understanding of what we do, why we do it, and how your role impacts on our business outcomes. These are qualities that people at Barclays have in abundance, and we’ll help you develop and strengthen them from the day you arrive.
