To be successful as an AVP Book Data Governance, you should have experience with:

Basic/ Essential Qualifications:

  • Mid Senior role-Relevant experience in Data Management

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field

  • Accounting Knowledge .

Desirable skillsets/ good to have:

Technical:

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel, Tableau, Alteryx or Power BI.

  • Skill in creating presentations and explaining complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Problem-Solving

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw actionable insights.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address operational and governance challenges.

  • Proficiency in handling large datasets and creating reports for stakeholders.

  • Understanding of operational workflows and ability to streamline processes for efficiency.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging stakeholders and documenting processes.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

Ability to handle escalations, difficult conversations, and facilitate stakeholder forums.

Project and Change Management

  • Ability to manage projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring progress.

  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and implementing strategic changes

  • Experience with process documentation and creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Regulatory and Governance Knowledge

• Familiarity with governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and risk management practices.

• Awareness of data governance policies, unauthorized trading risks, and audit standards.

This role will be based out of Chennai.

Purpose of the role

To monitor and ensure adherence to data quality standards, processes, and initiatives to enhance overall data quality and enable effective decision-making. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification and prioritisation of critical data elements requiring quality improvement.
  • Development and maintenance of data quality dashboards and reports to track progress and communicate data quality performance.
  • Analysis and evaluation of data quality issues and trends  and perform root cause analysis to clearly articulate the problem.
  • Development and implementation of thematic data quality strategies and policies aligned with the bank's overall data governance framework.
  • Triage, prioritisation and determination of criticality of data quality issues managing associated risks, issues and dependencies, driving management and facilitation of data quality issue remediation and return to green plans.
  • Definition of requirements and specifications for proposed data remediation efforts to meet regulatory commitments, risk controls and business objectives.
  • Recommendation and implementation of data quality improvement technologies and tools, including use of machine learning.

Assistant Vice President Expectations

  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
