Explore locationJoin Barclays as a Mainframe Performance Specialist role, where to support the z/OS Performance team in monitoring and improving the performance of Barclays’ mainframe systems. You’ll work across a broad range of Mainframe technologies to support system performance and reliability. This includes investigating infrastructure issues, using performance tools and platform features, contributing in-house code, and supporting diagnostic and scheduling activities. You’ll also represent the team in technical discussions and provide on-call support as part of a collaborative environment. At Barclays, we don't just anticipate the future - we're creating it.
To be successful in this role, you should have below skills:
IBM Mainframes, including TWS, CICS, IMS, MQ, DB2, and configuring System and LPAR settings on z15 onwards.
Performance and observability tools such as Omegamon, RMF, SYSVIEW, SAS/MXG, Elastic, Grafana, and Workload Manager (WLM), along with scheduling tools, TSO utilities, and diagnostic tools.
Creating in-house utilities using REXX. Investigating infrastructure issues and applying knowledge of the major incident process.
Some other highly valued skills may include below:
Familiarity with Endevor and SMF housekeeping.
Experience supporting Mainframe environments in financial services.
Knowledge of DB2 performance tuning.

This role is based in our Chennai office.
Purpose of the role
To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.
