Join us as a Barclaycard Payments Operations Manager in our Operations team. The Operations department plays a key role in the leadership, management, and operation of our independently licensed business. As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing our internally outsourced service providers, while supporting the Head of Operations in handling the day-to-day business activities. This role is vital in ensuring we meet the needs of our European clients and comply with the expectations of the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI).

To be successful as a Operations Manager, you should have experience with:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present to leadership and Board Directors. 

  • Advanced stakeholder management capability 

  • Proven understanding & experience of the regulatory landscape for financial services, particularly as it relates to outsourcing & Digital Operational Resilience

  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills, with high attention to detail  

  • Good understanding of how the various functions of a licenced payment institution or similar business operates (Finance, Product, Sales, Risk, Compliance, Outsourcing, Operational Rigour and Audit). 

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Be technologically literate (payments) and legally astute 

  • Understanding of the payment/card acceptance and card issuing industry 

  • Broad business and industry knowledge/experience 

  • Experience in project or change management 


This role is based in Dublin.

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

Purpose of the role

To manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives and compliance with relevant regulators. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification of trends and opportunities to improve areas and develop new process and procedures through the monitoring and analysis of operation data and performance metrices.
  • Management of operations for a business area and promote efficient processes, risk management and compliance initiatives to support the bank's operations.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders (including business leaders, project manager and SMEs) and external stakeholders (including vendors and service providers) to support business operations and promote alignment with the bank's objectives and SLAs.
  • Management of operational professionals and provide guidance, coaching and support to improve colleagues' delivery quality.
  • Management and development of KPIs to measure the effectiveness of operation functions, utilising data and technology to support the identification of areas that require improvement.
  • Compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience.
  • Creation of a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, actively and regularly encourage and solicit feedback to ensure people agenda remains focused on the right areas.
  • Management of attrition by working closely with HR in implementing retention initiatives for work force.
