Explore locationStep into the role of FCS People Leader - Adverse Media Screening at Barclays, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future. In this pivotal role you will manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators. You will take ownership of your work, ensuring it aligns with the relevant rules & regulations, and codes of conduct.
You will focus on leading a team that delivers high quality financial crime screening activities, ensuring effective identification and management of adverse media risks. The role combines strong people leadership with operational oversight to maintain regulatory compliance, drive team performance, and support informed risk-based decisions within Barclays.
You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role such as:
Lead and coach a team responsible for adverse media screening, ensuring high standards of quality, productivity, and regulatory compliance.
Oversee the review and assessment of adverse media alerts, transaction monitoring outcomes, and KYC screening activities to support effective financial crime risk management.
Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve complex cases, provide risk guidance, and ensure timely escalation of high-risk findings.
Monitor team performance through quality reviews, performance metrics, and continuous coaching while fostering a culture of accountability and development.
Drive operational excellence by implementing process improvements, strengthening controls, and ensuring adherence to AML, KYC, and financial crime policies.
Desirable skills set:
Strong experience in Adverse Media Screening, Transaction Monitoring, KYC, AML, and Financial Crime Compliance.
Proven leadership, experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing operational teams.
Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to assess complex risk scenarios and make sound, risk-based judgements.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication skills with the confidence to engage across business, compliance, and risk functions.
