Prime Synthetics Middle Office AVP

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a APAC Prime Synthetics Middle Office AVP, the team play an integral role in the rapidly growing equities business at Barclays. You will be responsible for driving and delivery of the Synthetics and Operations initiatives partnering with Front Office Trading within Prime Liquid Financing business.

Other key focus of the role will include:

• Proven track record of delivery at pace, including risk and control programmes within operational risk framework.

• Supervise team to ensure services, controls, exceptions, and external internal queries are resolved at pace.

• Client service focus, pro-active dealing with issues and escalations.

• Experienced in managing team and colleague development.

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, as well as job-specific technical skills.

To be successful for the role, candidates should possess the following skills or experience:

• Bachelor’s degree, minimum 5 years relevant experience in middle office function, knowledge of Asia equities markets, ETF, and derivative products including equity swap.

• Excellent communication skills, experience dealing with front office and clients.  Proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua is a plus.

• Strong leadership, problem solving skills, and risk and control mindset.

• Experience of delivering AI solutions.

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

• Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
• Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
• Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
• Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
• Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
• Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
• Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
