This is an exciting opportunity to join Barclays as a VP – Transaction Banking Sales based in Hong Kong, with a focus on Trade and Working Capital Origination and Cash Management Solutions. You will play a key role in driving revenue growth by delivering integrated transaction banking solutions to the clients across the region. You will also be responsible for identifying client needs, structuring bespoke trade and cash solutions, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to deepen client relationships and increase Barclays’ share of wallet in the transaction banking space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate and structure Trade Finance and Cash Management solutions tailored to client working capital and treasury needs, delivering bespoke transaction banking proposals.
  • Cover a portfolio of International Corporates, Financial Institutions Groups, experience working with large Chinese local corporates and MNCs is a strong advantage.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers and Product Specialists to deliver holistic transaction banking proposals.
  • Manage a robust pipeline of opportunities and ensure accurate reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Provide product expertise across documentary trade, supply chain finance, liquidity management, collections, and payments.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and client treasury practices to inform solution design.
  • Ensure all activities comply with internal risk, control, and governance frameworks.

To be successful for the role, candidates should possess the following skills or experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of front-office experience in Trade Finance and Cash Management, with a strong understanding of transaction banking products.
  • Proven ability to pitch and structure end-to-end working capital and liquidity solutions for multinational clients.
  • Solid knowledge of cash management products, including payables, receivables, liquidity structures, virtual accounts, and host-to-host integration.
  • Familiarity with treasury operations, payment systems, and regulatory environments across Asia.
  • Excellent understanding of ICC rules, operational procedures, and trade documentation.
  • Fluent in Mandarin/Cantonese, and English to effectively engage with clients across Greater China.
  • Trade Finance or Cash Management certifications (e.g., CDCS, CTP) and regional experience in Asia are highly desirable.
  • Comfortable navigating Corporate & Investment Banking structures and collaborating across functions.

Purpose of the role

To generate revenue and promote the bank's diverse product and service offerings to various customer segments. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification of potential customers, analysing their needs and preferences, and staying abreast of emerging market trends and competitor strategies.
  • Creation of detailed profiles for target customer segments, outlining their demographics, financial habits, and pain points to tailor sales approaches and product recommendations.
  • Relationship management of potential and existing customer relations through the execution of high-quality customer support, by responding to queries and resolving issues, gaining their customer trust, and understanding their financial goals and challenges.
  • Understanding of the features, benefits, risks, and compliance requirements of various banking products and services offered. Understanding of the key features, benefits, risks, enhancements, and regulatory requirements of new and existing banking products, and communicate insights clearly to potential customers to address their financial needs.
  • Development of compelling sales pitches and proposals that showcase the value proposition of the bank's offerings to convert leads into customers, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Collection and analysis of customer feedback on various products, services, and overall experience, to support the development of reports that communicate key findings to relevant stakeholders, to inform product development and sales strategies.
  • Monitoring of lead conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, and other relevant metrics to assess sales performance and identify areas for improvement.
