Join us an AVP Treasury Funding Investments Trader where you will assist with the management of the Liquidity Buffers and excess liquidity to optimise the risk return of investment assets, within applicable constraints.

You will help manage the Fixed Income investments within the liquidity buffer mandate as well as Cross Currency and FX Forwards risk. The product sets includes Sovereign bonds, SSAs, Covereds, Inflation Linked, CLOs and RMBS, XCCY and FX Forwards.

Key Accountabilities

Business and product knowledge

  • Demonstrates the ability to help the team invest and manage a defined portion of the liquid asset buffer
  • Demonstrates a proficiency in economics and markets, and applies this knowledge to inform investment decisions and strategy formation
  • Demonstrates deep and wide knowledge of fixed income products and how to execute efficiently and profitable in these markets
  • Understands and applies the desk’s limit structure to maintain a responsible risk management facility and improve franchise returns
  • Demonstrates awareness of the desk’s role at a firm level, and engages across businesses as required
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of Treasury Investments and how the group interacts with other teams to achieve sustainable returns for the firm
  • Experience of managing within a limit framework covering market risk, credit, liquidity and balance sheet limits.

Market Knowledge/trade decisions

  • Actively participates in economic discussions on the desk or with research counterparties
  • Comfortable to develop, initiate and help manage investment ideas, with the focus being on European rates instruments
  • Able to explain how different economic or market events are expected to impact the investment performance of the team
  • Can perform basic forecasting of macroeconomic data releases
  • Able to articulate a market view and describe the components of a proposed investment (entry point, sizing, target, stop)

Execution

  • Experience in execution of trades under challenging conditions (i.e. fast markets, large size, multi-counterparty trade execution) across relevant asset types
  • Day-to-day technical execution expert across all relevant asset types (estimation of appropriate execution level, bid/offer spread, etc without advice from senior members) - can execute authorized trades independently

Purpose of the role

To buy and sell financial instruments, such as bonds, stocks, and derivatives, to generate revenue for the bank by the analysis of market conditions, execution of trades, and management of risk.  

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of trading strategies that align with the bank's risk appetite, investment objectives, and market conditions, and monitoring of market movements to adjust trading strategies accordingly.
  • Execution of trades on behalf of the bank, or proprietary trading desks, while adhering to the bank's trading strategies and risk parameters.
  • Maintenance of accurate and timely trading records, prepare daily and monthly trading reports, and contribute to the evaluation of the overall trading strategy.
  • Monitoring and analysis of global financial markets, economic indicators, news, and geopolitical events to identify trading opportunities and assess market risks.
  • Management and monitoring of the risk associated with the trading portfolio, including setting and maintaining stop-loss limits and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal risk management guidelines.
  • Raise unsecured funding in the International Money Market.
  • Execution of Structural Hedges for hedging IRRBB.
