  • Responsible for the provision of specialist personal protection and security services and support and direction to the regional teams to ensure the effective, efficient and consistent delivery of Travel, Event and Personal Security operations globally across the business.
  • Specific oversight of security arrangements and risk mitigation against Executive Committee and High Rick Personnel.
  • The strategic leadership, ensuring adherence to standards and operational planning and execution for the global delivery of intelligence led Executive Protection, Security and Chauffeur Services to Barclays High Risk Personnel (HRP); including, the Group Chairman, CEO and members of Group ExCo and Non-Executive Directors (on Barclays business) across the Barclays estate and offsite.  SME led advising senior stakeholders regarding HRP risks and operations. 
  • Ensuring threat assessments are completed for all HRPs with appropriate mitigation using a range of intelligence tools
  • The strategic lead responsible for the delivery of accountable the bank’s Travel Security programme, leading and ensuring consistency in standards of service delivery across the Regional Security teams in Travel Advice/Approvals, Hotel and Car Service assessment and physical security support, based on intelligence assessment. 
  • Assuring and delivering pro-active traveller engagement, assistance and security support pre and during visits.  Strategic leadership partner for Global Travel and Expense Services to ensure creative pro-active engagement and intervention systems, innovative use of technology, early identification and monitoring of risk, traveller tracking, and incident reporting and appropriate safeguards and training are in place.

Purpose of the role

To develop and implement protection plans and strategies for high profile individuals within the bank. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of executive protection strategies and contingency plans for high profile individuals within the bank by conducting threat assessments, developing security plans and coordinating with security providers.
  • Development and implementation of travel security strategies for international and domestic travelling colleagues by conducting risk assessments, developing security plans, route planning, and providing travel security training.
  • Development and implementation of event security strategies for bank-sponsored events such as shareholder meetings, conferences, and other events through collaboration with colleagues in corporate access and event delivery fields.
  • Management of security operations for the bank's facilities using various control systems, CCTV and security personnel to ensure the onsite safety and protection high profile individuals.
  • Management of stakeholder relationship including senior executives, colleagues, and vendors to algin security operations with the bank’s objectives.

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
