GTM Product and Tech Strategic Senior Financial Analyst - BPL

As a Senior Strategic Finance Analyst (Product & Technology), you'll support the Product and Technology leadership teams by providing financial analysis, strategic insight and decision support. Working closely with business stakeholders, you'll help translate investment priorities and technology spend into clear financial plans, supporting forecasting, scenario modelling and long-term planning activities. Your work will help ensure strategic objectives are underpinned by robust financial analysis and commercial discipline.

You'll contribute to the development of investment cases and ROI assessments, helping evaluate new initiatives and resource allocation decisions through a commercial and analytical lens. You'll provide clear, actionable insights on business performance, identify risks and opportunities, and support the measurement of returns on key investments. You'll also help translate complex financial analysis into concise and compelling presentations for senior stakeholders, supporting discussions and decision-making across the organisation.

Barclays’ payments acceptance business provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy, processing billions of pounds of payments annually for both small businesses and domestic and international corporate clients.

In April 2025, we announced a long-term partnership with Brookfield Asset Management to grow and transform the payments acceptance business by broadening the range of services offered, enhancing the experience for both existing and prospective clients. Leveraging extensive client relationships and deep experience of UK payments, we will create an environment of continuous innovation - activated by Brookfield’s global private equity expertise in payments, technology, operational transformation and corporate carve-outs - to ensure the business is strategically positioned for long-term growth.

Barclays will invest approximately £400m in the new business, the majority of which will be incurred during the first three years. Performance-linked incentives will drive greater alignment between the partners, underpinning the long-term commitment to the transformation. Barclays and Brookfield will work to create a standalone entity over time, continuing to use the Barclaycard Payments (BPL) brand and acting as the sole payments acceptance services provider to Barclays’ clients for a minimum of ten years.

To be successful as a Senior Strategic Finance Analyst you should have experience in:

• Qualified Accountant with a recognised professional finance qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Experience in a commercial finance, FP&A, strategic finance or finance business partnering role.
• Strong financial modelling, forecasting and analytical skills, with experience supporting business planning and investment decisions.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Experience within a Payments, Fintech or other fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Experience supporting Product, Technology or other functional teams through business partnering activities.

Purpose of the role

To provide financial expertise and support to various departments and business units within the organisation by the gathering, analysis and interpretation of financial data to inform investment decisions, assess financial risks, and support strategic planning.  

Accountabilities

• Evaluation of investment opportunities and potential risks through in-depth research on companies, industries and market trends, and preparation of investment recommendations and reports for investment committees.
• Preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts to inform strategic planning and decision making.
• Monitoring financial risks and provision of regular reports to senior colleagues and the board of directors.
• Collection, analysis and interpretation of financial data to prepare financial reports, dashboards and presentations conveying financial insights for stakeholders.
