  • Delivering all areas of the Incident Management Standard and ensuring that these are implemented as a consistent and consolidated set of processes within the region.
  • Leading Barclays and its constituent Divisions and Business Units to develop and maintain the elements necessary for a robustSecurity Incidentcapability within the region
  • Have a specific focus on supporting the Business Units across Barclays within EMEAto maintain an internal incident response mechanism that links to the Barclays-wide response requirements.
  • Accountable forestablishing and maintaining the Security Incident Management and prompt escalation, plans and preparedness and response capabilities in the EMEA to support the global CSO remit.
  • Direction of incident response across security risks, geo-political and physical events and disruption to ensure a prompt appropriate response and collaboration across Incident Management Teams
  • Supporting Cyber Incident management to resolve security incidents and mitigate risk
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate, regional and global security risk management, including cyber incident management at a senior level
  • Knowledge of Incidentmanagement theory (e.g. Command, Control and Coordination structures, incident management communications, exercise management, etc.).
  • Knowledge of operational incident handling processes and, ideally, experience of incident handling in an operational environment.
  • Sound understanding of resilience and recovery.
  • Skilled in the conduct of threat assessments and handling ‘intelligence’ information.
  • Sufficient familiarity with Technology, Physical Security, Information Security, Reputation Management and Real Estate to address specific risks and incidents in these areas

Purpose of the role

To coordinate incident plans/ responses and collaborate with various stakeholders through the use of various data resources. 

Accountabilities

  • Monitoring of real-time security incidents and emergencies that may impact the bank's assets, colleagues and customers through the use of various security systems and tools.
  • Development and coordinate a unique response/plan, and contingency plan, to each case through the effective deployment of resources and personnel.
  • Collaboration with teams across the bank, including the security operations team, facility management team and external security vendors, to provide time efficient communication and responses to incidents and emergencies.
  • Implementation and execution of security policies and procedures in the events of security incidents and emergencies.
  • Execution of training and drills for Joint Operations Centre colleagues to prepare and upskills them in the event of an emergency.
  • Collection of data from sources including intelligence reports, diverse types of media and operational news to update situational awareness databases and track progress of operations.

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
