Investment Proposal Writer | Barclays | London.

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Investment Proposal Writer to join the Barclays Private Bank Investment Consultants team. This role is instrumental in supporting the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality and compelling responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), and other investment-related documents.

The successful candidate will play a key role in articulating our investment capabilities and value proposition to investment consultants and prospective clients, including charities, family offices, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career (1–2 years' experience including for those coming to the end of their firm’s graduate programmes), or relevant RFP backgrounds, to gain exposure to a broad range of asset classes and investment processes within the Private Bank.

Day-to-day responsibilities involve working closely with internal stakeholders – including Discretionary Portfolio Managers, investment advisors, the portfolio analytics team, risk and compliance, responsible and sustainable teams, and the private client/family office & charity front office teams – to curate high-quality submissions and maintain strong consultant relationships. The role requires strong project management skills, persuasive writing ability, and a solid understanding of the investment landscape, including sustainable investing. Candidates should be curious, proactive, and eager to contribute to the growth and reputation of Barclays as a premier investment partner.

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate investment solutions in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Strong analytical, numerical, technical skills and good with Excel spreadsheets, pie charts, PowerPoint, etc.


Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working in investment environment, strong understanding of discretionary portfolio management service across multiple asset classes
  • Knowledge of sustainable/responsible investing landscape
  • Strong investment knowledge and interest in markets in general
  • Interest in ESG and sustainability
  • Financial Education – professional investment qualifications (IMC/IAD/CFA) a plus

Purpose of the role

To assist relationship managers to effectively manage their client portfolios and optimise the client experience. 

Accountabilities

  • Maintenance of client information, management of contracts and agreements, and preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials.
  • Coordination of schedules for relationship managers and clients, ensuring efficient time management and smooth communication.
  • Processing of transactions, management of expense reports, and routine requests to free up the relationship manager's time for strategic activities.
  • Information gathering on relevant market trends, competitor offerings, and industry news to support the relationship manager in providing informed advice and tailored solutions.
  • Analysis of client data, preparation of reports on portfolio performance, and provision of insights to inform portfolio adjustments and client recommendations.
  • Management of inbound and outbound communication through phone, email, and other channels, relaying important information and response to client inquiries.
  • Provision of support to relationship managers with planning, tracking and the execution of complex client projects by managing timelines and resources, identifying potential issues, summarising client portfolios and proactively communicating updates and opportunities to the relationship manager.
  • Support to clients with everyday product and services tasks such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, bill payments, mobile app support as well as updating personal information, contact details and account preferences.
  • Guidance to new customers through account opening procedures, explanation of account terms and conditions, and setting up of online access and other services.
  • Management and maintenance of client relations by resolving various customer concerns and inquiries, including account balances, statements, transactions, fees.
  • Maintenance of confidentiality and security of client data by following strict data security protocols and ethical practices.
