We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our Personal Banking & Wealth Management (PBWM) division in a role that is central to helping shape and execute strategic priorities for PBWM by conducting deep research, market and competitor analysis, strategic planning, and initiative design. You will partner closely with a range of stakeholders across the business and the wider Barclays Group to deliver consistently high-quality outcomes that align with our long-term vision and strategic goals.
You will lead and support discrete strategic initiatives, business planning processes, and transformation efforts, while also contributing to key business-as-usual (BAU) responsibilities. Your efforts will support senior leadership, including updates to the PBWM CEO, Group Executive Committee, and other governance bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
Vision & Strategy Development
- Deliver insightful analysis of market trends and macroeconomic drivers to shape PBWM’s strategic thinking.
- Assess market conditions and competitor actions to identify potential risks and opportunities, supporting well-informed strategic decisions.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and peer performance reviews to inform Barclays’ positioning and areas for growth.
- Contribute to defining PBWM’s vision, role, and long-term opportunities, including identifying strategic actions required for transformation.
Planning
- Support the creation of a forward-looking plan for operational priorities and strategic investments.
- Support the delivery of transformation programmes by selectively reviewing and resolving strategic issues.
Solution Design & Problem Solving
- Assist in defining structured approaches to operational challenges through problem scoping, hypothesis development, and action planning.
- Evaluate potential strategic solutions, considering feasibility, risk, and commercial impact, and contribute to the development of business cases and delivery blueprints.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Support development of high-quality executive-level materials for internal and external stakeholders, including Board, Group ExCo, investors, and regulatory bodies.
- Contribute content to investor relations materials and support regulatory updates involving PBWM strategy and progress.
Essential Skills:
- A qualification at degree level.
- Strong numeracy and creativity in their approach to structuring and solving business problems through a combination of analysis and intuition.
- Experience in shaping business strategy, undertaking business planning and performance tracking, shaping strategic initiatives including developing proposition, product/service, or distribution (including digital) solutions from a client, colleague, commercial and risk perspective.
- Strong attention to detail, written and oral communication skills.
Desirable Skills/Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Private Banking or Wealth Management.
- A track record of working collaboratively with stakeholders and virtual teams in complex environments.
- A natural curiosity toward business issues and their own personal development.
This role is based in London.

Purpose of the role
To analyse and assess market trends, competitor landscape, and potential risks and opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.
Accountabilities
- Development and presentation of compelling strategic recommendations to senior management, addressing key business challenges and opportunities.
- Monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of implemented strategies, recommending adjustments as needed.
- Communication of complex strategic information clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders.
- Identification and assessment of potential risks associated with the bank's strategic plans and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Conducting in-depth research and analysis of internal and external data, including market trends, competitor analysis, and economic forecasts.
