Why the Quant Off-Cycle Internship Programme?
As an intern with Barclays you’ll be embedded with one of our Quant teams, we’ll expect you to have a tangible impact on our business from day one, using the latest AI tools to work on algorithmic trading strategies, researching and developing models or producing data analysis tools for valuation and risk management.
Quantitative Finance at Barclays
Our teams are an integral part of the bank, managing algorithmic trading strategies, researching and developing models and producing data analysis tools for valuation and risk management across various business areas at Barclays.
Applying to our program provides the opportunity to join one of our specialist teams, including:
Markets Quantitative Analytics (Markets QA)
Markets Quantitative Analytics develops the models, data science and insights that underpin trading, risk management and decision-making across Global Markets. By combining quantitative research, technology and market expertise, the team automates strategies, enhances analytics and delivers scalable solutions that improve franchise performance.

The team combines trading, quantitative research, data science, technology, and risk control expertise to drive revenue growth, market-making, execution quality, resilience and innovation across Global Markets' eTrading franchise.
Who we’re looking for
Logical problem-solvers do well here. You’ll have completed (or be in your final year of) a postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree or higher) in a technical discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Statistics, Stochastic Calculus, Computer Science, or other STEM subjects, with strong programming skills, particularly Python, C++, or Java.
You’ll be great at communicating and collaborating – driven to identify the best solution to a problem and then motivated to deliver that solution at pace.
You’ll also be ready to develop a deep understanding of what we do, why we do it, and how your role impacts our business outcomes.
These are qualities people at Barclays have in abundance, and we’ll help you further develop them from the day you arrive.
Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa. Successful applicants who are not eligible to receive a skilled worker visa, and who we are therefore unable to secure a skilled worker visa for, will be required to have their own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from their programme start date to their programme end date. The relevant start and end dates for this programme will be those confirmed to successful applicants.
