Step into the role of Senior Data Analyst at Barclays within the Investment Bank Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO) team at Barclays, where you’ll drive innovation and creativity by developing forward-thinking, data-driven solutions. You will partner with Front Office and work cross functionally with Legal and Operations teams to design innovative solutions, streamline data pipelines, optimise data structures, strengthen governance, and ensure regulatory compliance, making a meaningful impact on how Barclays delivers value.

To be successful as a Senior Data Analyst, you should have:

  • Regulatory & Investment Banking Data Expertise: Proven experience delivering data analysis for major front office regulatory programmes, with strong knowledge of investment banking products, risk frameworks, and financial markets data. Skilled in requirements traceability, data sourcing, data lineage, and front office control design.
  • Data Architecture & Governance: Extensive experience in data modelling and architecture with strong expertise in data governance principles, data quality, and front office control frameworks. Skilled in designing controls to ensure accurate and reliable data, and in translating regulatory requirements into scalable data designs and source to target mappings using conceptual, logical, and physical modelling.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL and hands on Python for complex data joins, transformations, and reconciliations across large datasets. Skilled in creating interactive dashboards and visualisations using Power BI and Tableau.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Storytelling: Skilled in presenting insights effectively to senior stakeholders within Front Office business through visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Other highly valued skills include:

  • Cloud Data Platform Experience: Hands on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks) and big data ecosystems.
  • Metadata & Lineage Tooling: Proficiency in tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Informatica EDC for managing data dictionaries, lineage, and governance artefacts to support regulatory traceability.
  • Agile Delivery Practices: Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (JIRA, Confluence) for efficient, audit ready delivery.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Ability to work across functions and influence decision making at senior levels.

This role is based in London with a hybrid working model of working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Purpose of the role

To enable data-driven strategic and operational decision making through extracting actionable insights from large datasets, performing statistical and advanced analytics to uncover trends and patterns, and presenting findings through clear visualisations and reports.

Accountabilities

  • Investigation and analysis of data issues related to quality, lineage, controls, and authoritative source identification, documenting data sources, methodologies, and quality findings with recommendations for improvement
  • Designing and building data pipelines to automate data movement and processing.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to large datasets to uncover trends and correlations, develop validated logical data models, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations that drive operational and process improvements, leveraging machine learning/AI.
  • Through data-driven analysis, translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations, identifying opportunities for operational and process improvements.
  • Design and create interactive dashboards and visual reports using applicable tools and automate reporting processes for regular and ad-hoc stakeholder needs.
