Join us as a Senior Decision Analyst in Client Insights team. The Client Insights team exist to create new data products and insights for direct consumption by Barclays corporate clients, and run a range of existing products marketed under Client Insights in Global Transaction Banking, by commercialising the vast data we hold on our clients, their products, markets and competitors.

The purpose of the role is to create insights, in collaboration with product and proposition management, focussing on key business issues relating to external clients using the Barclays transactional and demographic data, on the Hadoop-based platform. There is also a focus on creating new data assets, models and indicators to commercialise within the datasets, and contributing to the cloud migration agenda through new tooling such as AWS and Tableau/Power BI.

Accountability Specifics:

  • Primary responsibility is to create new insights, as well as handing over this reporting once it becomes BAU to the delivery teams, to deliver on our client commitments. Analysis is run on the SQL Hadoop-based platform.

  • Work as part of a project team to create new data assets, models and indicators for commercialisation and engagement with clients, applying customer-centric thinking to the product synthesis.

  • Identify trends, customer behaviours and commercial opportunities in the data to produce new insights to support the wider Client Insights agenda, including ad-hoc deep dives on areas of interest in consumer spend.

  • Demonstrate an innovate approach to data-based problem solving to support UK-based businesses strategy and develop a strong relationship with these external stakeholders.

  • Investigate and self-lead initiatives to improve the accuracy, availability, granularity and coverage of our data.

  • Communicate findings of analysis in meetings with stakeholders using visually compelling reports and presentations using visualisation tools such as Tableau.

  • Support in the incremental improvement of the insights agenda by identifying areas of operational weakness and proactively thinking of solutions to improve processes

Essential Skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical / statistical discipline required (e.g. Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Operations Research or related quantitative field)

  • At least some years of working within a data and analytics function/team and an understanding of big data platforms, data analytics and reporting tools and techniques

  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders and building effective relationships across the business and geographies

  • Strong knowledge of SQL

  • Proficiency in data visualisation software, ideally Tableau.

Desired Skills/Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of big data platforms such as Hadoop and Teradata.

  • Proficiency in Python.

  • Experience in applying Data Science/AI/ML preferred.

  • Familiarity with AWS.

Purpose of the role

To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
  • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.
