Why the Sustainable Finance Summer Intern programme?
Sustainable Finance provides comprehensive financial advisory, capital raising, financing and risk management services to corporations, governments and financial institutions worldwide in support of the bank’s sustainable finance strategy, including delivery of our USD $1 trillion sustainable and transition finance target. The Sustainable Finance Summer Intern programme offers an opportunity to play a meaningful role in delivering on this strategy.

Central Sustainable Finance Team
The Central Sustainable Finance team is tasked with supporting the Bank’s ambition to be a market leading sustainable finance franchise. The team oversees and manages the implementation of a range of projects that are key to Barclays’ ambition to deliver USD $1 trillion in sustainable and transition finance by the end of 2030. The team drives initiatives supporting the front office including content creation and training, business and product development, portfolio decision-making and transactional reviews.

To be considered for this programme, you must be in your penultimate year of your degree, in any discipline.


Ideally, you'll have a keen and demonstrable interest in sustainable finance. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, all of which might be showcased through your involvement in extracurricular activities.

The location for this role is indicated in the job title, and you will be based at that location. If you are accepted into our graduate programme, your base location will be the same as it was during your internship.

Purpose of the role

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the investment banking division. Gain broad exposure to different typed of clients, transactions and focus on specialist areas.

Accountabilities

  • Collaboration on live deals, client pitches, support the team with advising on a broad range of corporate clients,. delivering holistic, structured solutions to deliver on client goals.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participation in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for investment banking.
  • Management of client relationships and provision of customer service support to clients and customers, under steadily decreasing supervision, responding to questions about products and services, processing of transactions.
  • Development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support in decision making in investment banking. Understand how businesses work and learn from experts in the industry.
  • Training and mentoring of junior colleagues.
