This position is an integral part of Barclays’ increasing emphasis on maintaining and enhancing an effective Expense control framework, to meet the business needs, meet regulatory requirements and also to deliver upon our core values and commitments to all of our stakeholders. You will work closely with the Service Company (ServCo), Barclays International (BI), Barclays UK (BUK), Private Bank & Wealth Management, Corporate Bank, US Consumer Bank, and their cost owners, as well as other lines of defence, to deliver effective MI & Reporting insights to enable full visibility of T&E spend in order to manage and control costs.
Key Accountabilities
- Global accountability in providing strategic objectives and management of the expense team to deliver the objectives
- Engagement with senior management, business COOs and key stakeholders to understand and develop the appropriate processes to support their objectives eg. expense limits, approval matrix, corporate card limits, BYOD, etc.
- Provide oversight on the stakeholder engagement strategy and enforce execution by T&E team members against their respective senior and/or functional stakeholders
- Manage the Service Support Desk for Expense & Corporate Card to provide user support across global time zones.
- Manage global corporate card program including creation of new accounts along side business expansion, coordinate data feed to the expense system, oversee day-to-day processes such as card issuing, closure and spend limit updates.
- Deliver best in class insights strategy to provide reliable, relevant and timely MI capability, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions.
- Manage the external outsourced development team and drive a culture of continuous improvement in MI Pillar products and overall proposition to deliver accurate analytics which supports the businesses’ spend monitoring & control and a comprehensive self-serve reporting system. This includes supporting Tax, Compliance and other regulatory reporting which impacts the banks’ tax payments, retention of trading licences and avoidance of penalties/fines.
- Set annual global T&E Operating Budgets and engage with senior business stakeholders to interlock on annual cost recharges. Oversee commercial team to ensure vendor invoices are paid on time and in line with the set budget.
- Project lead on major T&E programme development and implementation eg. Structural Reform, OM Hierarchy Change, Fusion, E2E Concur global roll-out, etc.
- Drive annual and monthly Expense and MI supplier reviews ensuring delivery against agreed service levels are achieved at all times.
Candidate Requirements:
- Extensive experience of managing stakeholders directly & indirectly and across geographies & cultures, including presenting to senior leaders i.e. MD’s, Directors etc, supporting and providing robust challenging where appropriate.
- Experience of influencing and building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders at senior levels.
- Experience in providing informed opinion and being a trusted source on business / function’s policies and standards.
- Experience in a risk and control capacity of a major banking/financial services organization.
- Commercially astute, demonstrates a consultative, yet pragmatic approach with integrity to solving issues, focusing on areas of significance and value to the business.
- A strong understanding of T&E Cost and Control environment, including understanding the impact across people, process and technology.
This role can be based in both New York and London.
