To be successful as an "Data Privacy Specialist", you should have experience with:

Basic/ Essential Qualifications:

  • Relevant knowledge of data protection regulations or other control/compliance experience,preferably in the financial services industry.
  • A good understanding of the relevant data privacy obligations.
  • Has excellent business judgment and commercial acumen and a willingness to exercise it.
  • Able to work constructively across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Able to manage a busy work load and complete tasks to agreed timescales
  • Fulfil responsibilities aligned to Data Privacy procedures and advise the Business in line with relevant Barclays-wide policies and standards related to Data Privacy in accordance with the Business strategy and governance framework.
  • Coordinate and input into the review of customer privacy notice and Record of Processing Activity (ROPA) updates.
  • Collaborate with the relevant business teams to ensure that Data Privacy related incidents, breaches, and risk events are appropriately reported, recorded, escalated and monitored at the relevant governance fora.
  • Provide input into or measure, as appropriate, conformance, assurance, and reviews from the perspective of Data Privacy within the Businesses, such as verification checks or monitoring reviews.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments in relation to relevant new business propositions to ensure that any risks are identified and appropriate mitigating actions are taken.
  • Drive the development of training to upskill Data SMEs and the broader business population to ensure awareness of actual and emerging data privacy issues, themes and risks.
  • Maintain oversight of Individual Rights requests, providing support where these are considered to be complex.
  • Monitor external privacy developments to ensure that BP processes reflect external best practice.

Desirable skillsets/ good to have:

  • Certifications in one or more of the following disciplines: data privacy, legal, compliance information risk or information technology would be useful.
  • Professional Privacy Certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (e.g. CIPP /E) or equivalent is preferred.
  • BCS qualification in Data Protection.
  • A willingness to work towards and achieve a relevant Data Privacy qualification.

This role will be based out of Noida.

Purpose of the role

To support the design and implementation of the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework, monitor and report on the Bank’s adherence to its obligations and commitments in relation to the responsible handling of personal data, and act as a point of contact with Data Protection Authorities (DPAs). 

Accountabilities

  • Development and maintenance of the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework, including the content of Data Privacy policies, processes and procedures and other artefacts, and supporting the Bank’s Data Protection Officers in monitoring and reporting on adherence to these.
  • Provision of specialist support to Business Oversight Compliance teams in their oversight of the, identification, assessment and management of potential Data Privacy risks arising from the processing of personal data and implementation of the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework.
  • Co-ordination of the response to personal data breaches, including appropriate containment and remediating actions, and, where personal data breaches are assessed as triggering a requirement to report to regulators, reviewing and then co-ordinating with 1LoD, Legal and BOC to ensure any such incidents are notified to regulators and impacted individuals in accordance with relevant statutory timeframes.
  • Management of Barclays relationship with DPAs by acting as a point of contact for them and ensuring timely responses to regulatory complaints and investigations, queries, and formal consultations.
  • Collaboration with 1LOD Data Privacy SMEs, Legal, and other relevant Compliance teams and risk management functions to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the management of Compliance Risk and other related risks.
  • Barclays representation in key Data Privacy industry groups and associations, and use intelligence gained from these to identify areas for improvement and implementation of enhancements to the Data Privacy Framework.
  • Education and awareness support to employees in relation to Data Privacy, including maintenance of Group-wide mandatory training courses on Data Privacy to ensure employees are clear on their data privacy obligations, how to manage personal data securely, and how to identify and report personal data breaches.
