Explore locationJoin us as a Data Platforms Lead at Barclays, where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. You will build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.
To be a successful Data Platforms Lead, you should have experience with:
Expertise in object‑oriented and functional programming. Ability to review code and guide engineers on best practices. Understanding of domain‑driven design, event‑driven architectures, microservices,
System design for large‑scale distributed systems. API design (REST, GraphQL), messaging systems, streaming platforms. Security fundamentals (authentication, authorization, OWASP, zero‑trust).
CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps etc). Test automation strategy—unit, component, contract, E2E. Containerization & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Performance engineering & shift‑left testing practices.
Strong coding experience in at least one modern language. Java Spring Boot Hands-on Technology leader who has worked with multiple technologies of IBM Sterling Product suite, has good exposure working hands with GIT and CI/CD.
Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued:
Cloud‑native architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure). Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
Understanding of mobile + web performance optimization. Engineering governance, coding standards, peer review processes. Tech debt management & refactoring approaches. Risk management and control frameworks (aligned to VP expectations).
