Job Title: Director – Head of India Compliance COO and Head of Compliance Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE)

Job Summary: A highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Compliance COO Team and Compliance Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) in Pune. As Head of India Compliance COO, the role would provide leadership and people management to all Compliance COO functions based in India including Compliance Analytics, Business Management, Change Management, Learning & Development etc.
As Head of Compliance Analytics CoE, they will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of compliance analytics initiatives, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement in compliance processes. This role would also be a part of India Compliance Management Team (ICMT) providing support for overall compliance hub buildout strategy and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Compliance COO set up in India and provide supervision and people management for all functions in this set up.
- Lead and manage a team of compliance analytics, change management and business management professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
- Develop and implement the strategic vision for the Compliance Analytics CoE in alignment with the Digital Strategy and Innovation vision and strategy.
- Create a multi discipline CoE including coding languages, AI, visualisation and automation techniques.
- Build a workstyle and culture of colleagues, with the right skills, coming together to deliver Compliance Analytics initiatives at pace and to required standards.
- Input into design and lead the execution of compliance analytics projects, ensuring full utilisation of resources and transparency of progress.
- As part of ICMT, provide leadership and management support for a fast expanding compliance hub in India, including contributing to the people agenda, governance and value proposition.
- Create a safe environment where experimentation and a “fail fast” mentality is celebrated.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address compliance risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes through the use of advanced analytics and technology.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in compliance and data analytics.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Engineering, Finance, Data Analytics, Economics).
- Extensive experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, with a strong focus on data analytics.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate teams with varying responsibilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and technologies.
Desired Skills:
- Strong preference for qualified candidates from Banking and Financial Services industry.
- Good understanding of COO activities and business management in a complex matrixed global environment.
- A Master's degree or relevant certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in compliance analytics.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Purpose of the role
To lead the development and execution of the bank's Data & Analytics strategy, aligned with the bank's overall business goals and risk appetite, ensuring data is used effectively to drive business growth, optimise operations, and mitigate risks.
Accountabilities
- Enablement of Business or Function Unit Strategy through fostering and embedding a comprehensive understanding of how data can be used, bringing thought leadership on best practices and new capabilities to deliver Business outcomes. .
- Adherence to data policies standards and controls and inform this over time, driving Data Quality in support of use cases.
- Partnership with the Business or Function leadership to lead the definition and prioritisation of data use cases, business data products and their implementation and realisation of benefit.
- Prioritisation of activity required for Data and Analytics and challenge the overall end to end design and architecture.

- Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
- Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
- Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
- Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
- Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
- Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
- Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
