Java Lead Developer

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Java Lead Engineer – Vice President who will play a pivotal role in engineering world‑class digital experiences for our customers. In this role, you will shape strategic technology direction, provide thought leadership, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver resilient, scalable, cloud‑native solutions.

To be a successful Engineering Lead, you should have experience with:

• Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 11/17/23), Spring, Spring Boot, and microservices development. Expert knowledge of AWS cloud services and hands‑on experience in building cloud‑native applications.

• Deep understanding of distributed system architecture, event‑driven patterns, API design, and integration frameworks. Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/Terraform).

• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Nexus, Maven/Gradle), and automated test frameworks. Solid understanding of relational databases such as Oracle, along with ORM technologies (Hibernate, JPA).

• Strong command of observability tooling & practices, including CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, logging standards, tracing, and SRE‑style metrics (SLIs/SLOs).

Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued:

• Exposure to modern UI frameworks such as React or Angular. Experience with Docker, container platforms, and cloud aPaaS solutions like OpenShift.

• Strong API engineering experience across REST, GraphQL, or event‑streaming platforms. Experience in banking or financial services, with understanding of regulatory, compliance, and risk considerations.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership ability — influencing without authority. Analytical and problem‑solving skills to provide thought leadership on complex technical challenges.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
