Join Barclays as a Network Automation Developer role, where to design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. To be successful in this role, you should have below skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Ansible, Python and Django framework (experience with Ansible/ Django 5 years preferred)

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, particularly GitLab CI/CD pipelines

  • Knowledge of configuration management tools ( Terraform, IaC)

  • Experience with containerization technologies and Kubernetes orchestration

  • Understanding of API design principles and RESTful services

  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message brokers (Kafka, Redis)

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and methodologies

Some other highly valued skills may include below:

  • Experience with Infoblox, Akamai, F5  or similar network platforms

  • Knowledge of Network infrastructure like Firewall – Fortigate, DNS, LoadBalancer

  • Knowledge of Cisco ACI, NDFC, or NetBrain technologies

  • Experience with self-service enablement platforms

  • Understanding of compliance automation in regulated environments

  • Experience with technical debt reduction strategies

  • Expertise in Network Operational Automation and Provisioning exposing Network Intent APIs development using Python, Ansible and similar programming languages. Expertise in FastAPI, Flask, or Django for backend service development or similar Java or other language platform capabilities.

  • Expertise in developing agentic AI solutions using LLMs, LangChain, and vector stores to enable intelligent automation, natural language interfaces, and autonomous troubleshooting across network services. Equally leverage Open-source technologies and industry standard like Netconf etc for network devices/EMS integrations and TMF APIs with a thorough understanding of RESTful principles and authentication mechanisms. Capable of leading API strategy, development, and integration.

  • Skilled in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment practices and familiar with GitHub workflows. Demonstrated experience in automating build, test, and deployment pipelines to streamline development processes. Monitoring and Observability - logging/tracing and alerting with knowledge of SRE integrations into opensource tooling like grafana/ELK etc. 

  • Experience with containerization using Docker and designing microservices architecture. The ability to architect, deploy, and manage scalable and resilient systems.

  • Expertise in Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud technologies (DC, AWS, Azure, GCP etc) and across broad Network domains (physical and wireless) - WAN/SD-WAN/LAN/WLAN etc. 

  • Extensive experience in the design, analysis, and optimization of algorithms. The candidate should have a knack for enhancing performance and efficiency in software solutions. 

  • Demonstrable expertise with front-end and back-end skillsets. Java Proficiency (Java 17+) and Spring Ecosystem (Spring MVC, Data JPA, Security etc) with strong SQL and NoSQL integration expertise. React.js and javascript expertise : material UI, Ant design and state management expertise (Redus, Zustand or Context API). 

  • Strong knowledge of runtime (virtualisation, containers and Kubernetes) and expertise with test driven development using frameworks like cypress, playwright, selenium etc. 

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tooling : Github Actions, Jenkins, Gitlab CI or similar. Monitoring and Observability - logging/tracing and alerting with knowledge of SRE integrations into opensource tooling.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
