Operational Support Systems (OSS) Platform Engineering is a new team within the newly formed Network OSS & Tools functional unit in the Network Product domain at Barclays. The Barclays OSS Platform Engineering team is responsible for the design, build and run of the underlying OSS infrastructure and toolchain across cloud and on-prem that the core systems and tools required to run the Barclays Global Network reside on.
To be successful as a Risk and Control Manager, you should possess the following skillsets:
- Proven track record in operational risk management, control design, and governance within complex technology environments
- Deep understanding of risk management frameworks (COSO, ISO 31000) and regulatory requirements (PRA, FCA, SOX, GDPR)
- Strong knowledge of Three Lines of Defence, Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), and Issue Management processes
- Experience developing and monitoring Key Risk Indicators, control testing programs, and assurance activities
- Strong conceptual understanding of cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and modern platform engineering practices
- Knowledge of infrastructure risk domains: availability, resilience, capacity, security, change management, and operational stability
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring/logging architectures, and Site Reliability Engineering principles
- Understanding of data engineering, middleware technologies, and their associated risk profiles
- Exceptional influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to challenge senior technical and business leaders constructively
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, capable of presenting complex risk topics to Board-level audiences
- Collaborative approach with ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
- Results-oriented mindset with track record of driving accountability and delivering sustainable outcomes
