To be successful in this role, you should have experience with:

  • Experience working within Investment Banking or capital markets

  • Design and develop full-stack applications using Java and JavaScript frameworks

  • Strong Java programming skills (JDK21+, OOP principles, collections framework, multithreading, streaming API)

  • Strong knowledge in Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux, Spring Security, Spring Data

  • Understanding of microservices, RESTful API design and implementation

  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript: Core web technologies

  • Frontend Frameworks: ReactJS

  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MSSQL, Oracle) and SQL

  • Build Tools: Maven / Gradle

  • Experience with version control systems, CI/CD: (Jenkins/GitLab CI)

  • Develop comprehensive test suites for both frontend and backend

  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift basics

  • Optimize application performance on both frontend and backend

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the entire stack

  • Design database schemas and data models

  • Create system architecture diagrams and documentation

  • Implement design patterns and best practices

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead technical initiatives

  • Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience in Investment Banking domain like FX Cash, OTC Derivatives, Prime Brokerage 

  • Experience with messaging platform (e.g. MQ/Kafka/Solace)

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Working experience in Agile Methodology.

  • Strong understanding of authentication/authorization frameworks and enterprise security protocols

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
