Hybrid Working 
Structured hybrid role:    
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction: 
The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the technical delivery for medium to large scale regulatory projects in Barclays UK Risk, Finance & Treasury functions. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with direct responsibility for the deliveries of the local team with an emphasis on strong cross-region collaboration. The role requires expert technical knowledge and strong banking skills in Credit risk business process. The ideal candidate will be able to bring experience from previous developer position(s), with direct experience of end-to-end implementation, application development and project execution, ensuring that strategic key core principles are followed. The ideal candidate should be self-sufficient and pro-active in leading their work and provides a platform for best-practice processes for the team members.

What will you be doing
•Work within a globally distributed development team to deliver applications for our Equities Middle Office business using Java.
•Development work is in Java - building server/client side components using design patterns and writing business logic and code to interact with client-side processes via pub/sub middleware. 
•The system has a high-throughput, high-volume requirement, so part of the development process will include running and analyzing performance and memory usage benchmarks 
•Critical parts of the code are covered by unit tests, and the role will include writing and maintaining relevant unit tests 
•Follow the agile development methodology using scrums/sprints etc for software development 
•Implement POC’s for new features and work iteratively with users to see items through completion.

What we’re looking for:
•Bachelor’s Degree 
•Strong knowledge of Object Oriented concepts and Java
•Good RDBMS skills
•Prior experience building server side components with industry standards
•Prefer someone who is self driven, motivated and enthusiastic about building middle-office applications

Skills that will help you in the role: 
•Pub/sub middleware experience (e.g. TIBCO RV, Solace)
•Ability to mentor junior resources and build the team from a long term perspective.
•Experience of memory and performance profiling,  Ability to solve problems involved in writing multi-threaded code
•Clear oral and written communication skills 
•Google protocol buffers experience
