Join the Corporate AI Incubator team within Corporate Banking as a Technical Product Owner-Vice President at Barclays. This senior role is pivotal in leading the delivery of advanced GenAI and AI/ML solutions, ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient deployment across our enterprise infrastructure. You will work closely with data engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to define product vision, drive execution, and deliver high-impact AI products, including LLMs, generative AI, and agentic AI.

To be successful as a Technical Product Owner-Vice President you should have experience with:

  • Defining and communicating a clear product vision and technical roadmap for GenAI and AI/ML initiatives. Translating complex business needs into actionable technical requirements and user stories.

  • Prioritizing features and managing the product backlog using Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban). Leading cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle, from ideation to production deployment.

  • Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, including LLMs, generative AI, and MLOps best practices. Overseeing the delivery of AI/ML models into production, ensuring robust model lifecycle management, monitoring, and governance.

  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with the ability to align diverse teams and influence senior leadership. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and enterprise-scale AI/ML deployments.

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance, data privacy, and responsible AI practices in financial services.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Hands-on experience with MLOps, data engineering, or software development. Exposure to GenAI frameworks, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.

  • Understanding of user experience (UX) design and customer-centric product development for AI solutions. Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or product management communities.

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple complex AI/ML products or initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Purpose of the role

To  lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives. 

Accountabilities

  • Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
  • Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
  • Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
