Join Barclays as a Business Oversight Compliance Specialist AVP (Macro), providing Compliance coverage to Macro businesses within Markets supporting wider APAC priorities. In this role, you will help identify, assess and manage compliance risks, deliver independent, data-led compliance oversight and constructive challenge, and strengthen controls in line with legal, regulatory and ethical standards. You will provide timely, transaction-specific guidance on conduct, reputational and regulatory matters, support the implementation of Compliance policies and plans, and work closely with Markets, Legal, Risk and other control functions to promote effective risk management.
The role requires a good understanding of foreign exchange and rates products, market structure, and associated controls. It may also support areas such as market abuse and compliance investigations, new product approvals, business growth initiatives, verification checks, thematic reviews and Compliance monitoring. At Assistant Vice President level, the position involves contributing to decisions, supporting policy development and promoting operational effectiveness. Effective analytical, organisational, communication, collaboration and stakeholder-management skills are required to manage competing priorities and provide practical, solutions-focused advice.
To be successful as a Business Oversight Compliance Specialist (Macro), you should be able to:
- Act as a primary Compliance coverage contact for the Singapore Macro business, developing a thorough understanding of its products, clients, strategy, controls and risk profile.
- Provide clear, practical, and timely advice on day-to-day business activities, transactions, new initiatives, conduct matters and regulatory requirements, escalating material concerns where appropriate.
- Provide independent, risk-based review and constructive feedback to the business, with particular focus on conduct risk, reputational risk and the effectiveness of the control environment.
- Support business growth initiatives and change across APAC, including identification of relevant legal and regulatory obligations, governance expectations, controls, conditions and post-implementation actions.
- Support the delivery of the APAC Markets BOC Compliance Plan, with particular emphasis on Verification Checks, compliance-related training, and MI production
Essential skills:
- Relevant Compliance, Legal, regulatory or risk experience within financial services, ideally supporting a Markets business.
- Good understanding of foreign exchange and rates products, market structure, and associated controls.
- Experience providing real-time or transaction-specific Compliance or regulatory guidance.
- Knowledge of key global and APAC regulatory requirements relevant to Markets.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. Chinese language capability would be preferred to support interactions with stakeholders in the Greater China region.
Desirable skills:
- Prior experience covering Macro businesses, including foreign exchange, rates, or emerging markets.
- Effective collaboration and stakeholder-management skills, including engagement with senior business and control leaders.
- Analytical, detail-oriented and able to retain a clear view of the broader risk and business context.

Purpose of the role
To provide data-led expert oversight and check and challenge on business and compliance matters to evidence that the organisation is operating in a compliance with Barclays legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities.
Accountabilities
- Identification and assessment of compliance risks through thorough reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing and systems to.
- Identification and investigation of potential market abuse, including but not limited to, Insider Dealing, Unlawful Disclosure, Market Manipulation or Anti-Competitive Conduct.
- Conduct investigation of compliance risk events or breaches. Oversight and check and challenge of corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future occurrences.
- Implementation of compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and ensuring that the bank’s internal policies are aligned with international standards, including jurisdictional requirements.
- Collaboration with 1LOD, other relevant Compliance teams and legal, and relevant risk management functions to facilitate a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management.
- Identification, investigation and oversight of potential money laundering, terrorist financing or other financial crime.
