Market/Team Leader Accountabilities (in addition to Private Banker responsibilities below)

  • Drive the team’s strategy, commercials, and supervision of risk & controls
    • Operate as a “Player/Manager”, retaining a personal client portfolio while building, leading, and developing a team of Private Bankers.
    • Set and execute market and team strategy, with end-to-end accountability for commercial performance, including revenue and costs.
    • Supervise the team, ensuring all activities are within Barclays risk appetite, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Develop and deliver the overall Asia business plan and strategy for Private Bank. Ensure that the Asia business is prospecting & managing the right clients, maximizing deal potential and undertaking business within Barclays risk and commercial appetite.
  • Implement the Asia marketing & commercial strategy so that UHNW Asian clients are attracted to Barclays.
  • Managing the Asia business channel between Private Bank locations to maximise use of the full proposition
  • Assist the Head of Singapore, Private Bank with the development, management and growth of the Asia Private Bank franchise.
  • Deputise and/or act under delegated authority for the Head of Singapore Private Bank on designated matters where required.

Private Banker Accountabilities

  • Engage with Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) and Family Office clients who are typically multi‑banked, multi‑jurisdictional and have complex banking and investment needs, and successfully attract them to place business with Barclays Private Bank and the wider Barclays Group.
  • Originate, develop and secure new client relationships through personal and client referrals, internal Barclays networks, and Corporate & Investment Banking sources.
  • Onboard new clients of appropriate calibre and scale, delivering sustainable business growth for the Private Bank while ensuring solutions and services are aligned to client needs.
  • Leverage depth of experience to deliver appropriate, high‑quality client solutions for sophisticated clients with complex, cross‑border banking and investment requirements.
  • Translate client opportunities into executable strategies, deploying resources efficiently and effectively to maximise commercial outcomes. 
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Asia strategy for the Private Bank Singapore team, including responsibility for client‑level planning and, where required, geographic or commercial segment strategy within the broader Asia framework.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted within Barclays risk appetite, and carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal Barclays Policies & Standards
  • Act as a credible external and internal ambassador for Barclays, consistently representing the firm’s values and culture through a client‑centric approach, active market engagement and strong professional judgement.
  • Actively contribute to the Barclays People Agenda, supporting a strong culture of performance, inclusion and collaboration.

Purpose of the role

To manage relationship management initiatives and set the strategic direction. Provide support to the bank's senior management team. 

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.
  • Management of relationship management initiatives, including oversight of colleagues and their performance, implementation of departmental goals and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.  .
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

  • Strategically assess and manage risks to protect the business division / function and growth.
  • Influence company policy and develop functional procedures in conjunction with senior leaders / strategic positions across the business.
  • Demonstrate interpretative thinking for innovative solutions in complex situations and conceptual thinking in completely new situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant / complex business and strategic decisions that impact the Barclays Group, business division or function.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally and foster growth for Barclays business.
  • Mandated as the business division/ functional spokesperson or representative to external bodies and shapes the public image of Barclays.
  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of how business divisions and functions integrate with the Group to achieve the overall business objectives alongside industry theories and practices within own discipline.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive functional expertise and significant product knowledge.
  • Accountable for the control and governance agenda of the business division / function.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays.
