In this role, you’ll enable Barclays to continuously ensure that our portfolios, systems, and customer outcomes operate as designed through robust, data‑driven controls. You will create automated monitoring that replaces manual checks with meaningful insights leaders can act upon. For the ideal candidate, this is an opportunity to blend analytics, automation, and tangible business impact in a highly visible and influential environment.
To be successful as a Controls and Analytics Developer, you should have:
Foundational skill set in data analysis such as Python, SQL, SAS, or similar and feel confident navigating large, messy datasets
A willingness to develop analyses into automated, repeatable monitoring solutions rather than producing one‑off reports
Ample curiosity about using data to verify that processes and systems are functioning as intended, along with an enthusiasm for learning how effective controls are created
Ability to communicate your work transparently and effectively, clearly explaining what you tested, what you discovered, and why those findings matter to partners and teammates
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Experience with Tableau or similar visualization tools to present monitoring results clearly and effectively
Familiarity with scheduling or ETL concepts, or an interest in learning how recurring monitoring is operationalized
Organized and detail-oriented, with an appreciation for accuracy, documentation, and validation in a regulated environment
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in this role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
