In this role, you will serve as a key advocate for our developer community, helping engineers discover, adopt, and champion modern engineering practices, strategic platforms, and emerging technologies across Barclays. Combining the principles of Developer Relations with technical enablement, you will create engaging learning experiences through practical education, impactful technical content, community-building programs, and hands-on engineering events. You will work closely with engineering teams, platform owners, and technology leaders to understand developer needs, amplify feedback, and drive the successful adoption of tools and capabilities that enhance developer productivity and innovation. Through workshops, hackathons, technical demonstrations, internal communities, knowledge-sharing programs, thought leadership, and hands-on coding engagements, you will inspire engineers to embrace new ways of working and continuously improve their technical craft. This highly visible role blends software engineering, technical delivery, developer advocacy, and community engagement, providing a unique opportunity to influence engineering excellence, foster a developer culture, and accelerate technology transformation across Barclays. You will act as a bridge between platform strategy and developer experience, ensuring technology programs are not only understood but actively adopted through practical guidance, compelling technical storytelling, and demonstrated success.
To be successful as a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer - VP, you should have:
Considerable hands-on software engineering experience with modern development practices, including CI/CD, cloud platforms, automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and AI-enabled solutions
Proficiency in one or more enterprise programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or Go, with the ability to design, build, and deliver scalable production-grade applications
Experience creating technical demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, reference implementations, workshops, code samples, and developer enablement programs that drive technology adoption and engineering excellence
Exceptional communication, presentation, and public speaking skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and actionable guidance for diverse audiences
Passion for developer advocacy, community building, teaching, and mentoring, with a proven history of inspiring engineers, fostering technical communities, and promoting best practices through hands-on engagement
Other highly valued skills include:
Hands-on experience developing AI-powered and agentic solutions using modern developer tools and frameworks, including platforms such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and AI orchestration frameworks
Proven ability to build, grow, and engage developer communities through hackathons, workshops, technical forums, communities of practice, and knowledge-sharing programs
Good technical communication and content creation skills, with experience producing high-quality documentation, tutorials, blog posts, demos, videos, and other developer-focused learning materials
Demonstrated success driving the adoption of modern engineering platforms, developer tools, and best practices through advocacy, enablement, and technical leadership
Deep empathy for developers, combined with strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, and a hands-on approach to delivering practical solutions that improve developer experience and productivity

This role is located in our Whippany, NJ office.
Minimum Salary: $170,000
Maximum Salary: $230,000
The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

This position is eligible for an incentive award.
