Learn more about working in Corporate Banking

Throughout my time at Barclays I have received a lot of guidance, especially when it comes to career planning. At times, I’ve been torn between roles but my colleagues have helped me to see the bigger picture and I feel my managers have always had my career progression at the front of their minds.

There are a huge number of opportunities at Barclays in terms of career options, personal development as well as citizenship and sports.

I have had various roles at Barclays and currently work in the Export Credit Agencies team. In my role I have to deal with different internal as well as external stakeholders. In any one day I can be in discussions with Relationship Directors, Product Managers, Operations, clients from various industries as well as government bodies.

I am a keen volunteer and have had numerous opportunities to help others: Volunteering and citizenship is actively encouraged at Barclays. Mentoring is a key initiative. I have been lucky enough to mentor several young people from the local area, helping them with career advice and CV writing amongst other things. It was very rewarding to see their confidence grow over this time. Barclays also encourage fundraising. Having been given a Diana Award in 2008, I was very happy to help organise and join colleagues from across the bank take part in a 20 mile obstacle race which raised over £30,000 for the Diana Award charity.
