Step into a career at Barclays as a lead Data Scientist . The role holder will focus on driving the strategy for the team as well as BAU performance, and work with internal technology teams and stakeholders to meet critical demands

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with problem framing and Return on Investment measurement to ensure 

  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms (Supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning) and statistical methods to choose the right approach for each business problem

  • Proficient in evaluating models using metrics relevant to business goals and optimising models for accuracy, interpretability, and performance

  • Scala, python or R

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience designing and deploying scalable solutions, cutting edge optimisation algorithms that solve complex problems which provide clear outcomes for Sales and Operations teams

  • Strong leadership skills with experience developing junior data science colleagues

  • Banking Data Domain Knowledge i.e. Payments, Lending, KYC

Purpose of the role

To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
  • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.
