Explore locationBarclays is expanding its UK engineering presence as part of our 2026 technology growth strategy, and we are looking for a remarkable Java Software Engineer to join our Digital Feature Engineering team. This team is at the heart of delivering best-in-class experiences across our Mobile App and Retail Online Banking platforms.
You’ll work within our Core App & Web group, contributing to high-performing backend services that power millions of customer interactions every day. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building robust, scalable Java applications within a complex and evolving digital ecosystem.
To be successful as a Java Software Engineer, you should have:
Experience in Java software development within enterprise-scale or highly complex environments.
Previous experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and a commitment to engineering best practices.
Demonstrated ability to confidently work within large, unfamiliar, and legacy codebases.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
Background in Java web application development.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

This role will be located at our Knutsford office.
