Explore locationJoin us at Barclays as a Mainframe Service Engineer, where you will play a critical role in supporting and maintaining our core banking systems. As part of a high-performing technology team, you will ensure the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of our IBM mainframe environment, which underpins key business services across the organisation.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and supporting batch processing, scheduling, and system changes across multiple platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable services, troubleshoot incidents, and drive improvements across the mainframe ecosystem.
To be successful as a Mainframe Service Engineer, you should have experience with:
Experience working on IBM Mainframes with proficiency in JCL creation and all aspects of TWS scheduling
Experience of working with code management systems such as Endevor
Experience of Incident, Problem Record, and Release/Change Management processes
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Proven use of JCL management tools such as JCLPREP and JCLCheck
Proven understanding of mainframe infrastructure
Knowledge of Barclays applications

This role is based in Knutsford.
Purpose of the role
To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.
