You’ll lead deep‑dive investigations into areas such as savings propositions, customer onboarding experiences, demographic trends, and the evolving influence of neobanks. Your insights will shape strategies that enhance customer acquisition, retention, and overall market positioning. Ultimately, your work will equip the business with clear, actionable intelligence to strengthen Barclays ‘competitive advantage.
To be successful as a Senior Competitor Analyst, you should have experience with:
Commercial & customer decisioning - Understanding customer behaviour, journeys, and segments; framing insights in terms of value, risk, and trade-offs; and then translating analysis into commercial actions
Hypothesis‑led analysis - Starting with a question that drives a decision, not a dataset. Structuring analysis around hypotheses, drivers and controllable vs uncontrollable factors. Being comfortable with unclear problem statements, imperfect data and shifting priorities
Insight storytelling - Turning complex analysis into clear narratives which are executive‑ready; using visuals to support decisions, not overwhelm; successfully challenging the status quo at all levels, to drive brilliant Customer Outcomes in Barclays UK
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Previous experience in financial services, ideally within a strategic, analytical, or insights‑driven role
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
This role can be based in either London, Knutsford, Northampton or Glasgow.
Purpose of the role
To deliver the collection and analysis of research into customer needs, experiences and interactions, to support the creation of beautiful, useful, and innovative experiences and communications for our 20m UK customers. To put the Customer Voice at the heart of everything we do.
