Join Barclays as a Web Developer We are seeking a highly capable engineer to design and build high-performance, data-intensive web applications. This role focuses on real-time data flows, scalable system design, and the creation of responsive, high-density user interfaces.
You will collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders to transform complex data into fast, intuitive user experiences that perform reliably underload.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Strong experience with modern JavaScript / TypeScript / Node.js/Angular
- Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, and browser rendering behavior
- Experience building large‑scale front‑end or full‑stack applications
- Solid understanding of data structures, concurrency, and performance trade‑offs
- Experience with real‑time or near‑real‑time data (e.g. WebSockets, streaming APIs, polling)
- Familiarity with event‑driven or reactive architectures
Additional highly valued skills include:
- Experience with data visualization libraries (e.g. charting or grid frameworks)
- Background in financial, trading, analytics, or other data‑heavy domains
- Exposure to distributed systems or streaming platforms
- Experience contributing to architectural reviews or technical strategy

Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
